Great food, great staff service, and great atmosphere. We felt appreciated for our business. The only reason I give them 4 instead of 5 starts is because they could be a little more clean in the bathrooms and parking lot plus perhaps have valet service on known busy days.

Delicious bacon wrapped shrimp with cheddar cheese grits with honey sriracha butter. Nice little café off of 23rd. A great find!

The food was amazing! The best shrimp and grits I have ever had! The braised short rib melts in your mouth. Excellent service.

We love Cheever's. The food... the ambiance. The seafood tamales are outstanding, as is the salmon, the chicken-fried steak, and pretty much everything I've ever had there. But can we talk about those chairs? These are the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat in. They def do not want you to stick around for anything other than a brief meal. My legs and lower back are still hurting the next day.

I visited here since I was also working on 23rd Street, about 10 minutes east of this location. They also happened to show up on Yelp as one of the best restaurants in the area. I looked further and saw they had a chicken fried steak among other several classy menu items. In my experience, when an upscale restaurant has a CFS, it's usually damn good. When I ordered it, the bartender (because i sat at the bar) said people come from all over to order the dish. Their menu is not that large and consists of many beef dishes, so sorry for vegetarians. They would have to order a small plate, a soup or a salad, pretty much. They also have 2 daily specials that were not on the menu during my visit. A chicken and a fish dish. Also, their dessert are homemade, and 2 were normal size, 2 were large enough to be shared. When I arrived, the dining room wasn't that full... but my only seating option was the bar. Either they're out of reservations, or they just don't seat single customers at tables. Turns out by the time I was leaving, they did seat a single at a table near where I was at the bar, doubt he had a reservation. The cfs was delicious, and I could tell the meat was good quality. There was a lot of breading I ended up pulling off, but still a substantial amount of food for the price. You get 2 approx. 6 oz steaks that are fried in really tasty batter that isn't too salty. The ends were well cooked and not burnt like some places that pound the meat too thin or cook at too high of a temperature. The steaks are resting on top of homemade mashed potatoes, which have some pieces of skin. These were delicious, too. The cocktails looked delicious and were made by a friendly bartender who knows his stuff. My only regret was not ordering one. We had the best experience at Cheevers today! Met our sweet friends for a long overdue lunch. Mario took excellent care of us. We had chicken fried steak, shrimp and grits, burgers then dessert. Carrot cake was to die for! One slice fed four adults and two kids! Everything was delicious and presented beautifully as always! Cheevers is such staple! We love it!
